Search continues for a small plane with a young man and his instructor near Culebra

PUERTO RICO – The Coast Guard continues this Sunday in the search for a young student and his instructor who disappeared aboard a small plane between the waters of St. Thomas and Culebra.

The authorities use at least two boats and two planes in the operation that is concentrated on the north coast of the island municipality.

The experienced pilot identified as Karl Richardson and the young Oswald A. Fuentes Román were traveling in the plane.

As confirmed to Telenoticias, the training flight took off from Isla Grande to the Aguadilla airport and from there went to the Virgin Islands.

The FAA Radar Control Center indicated that at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday a report notified that contact had been lost with the CESSNA 172 aircraft.
