The year 2023 has begun and it’s poised to be a great year for gamers. Our gigantic preview series reveals how great it is with the most important, most exciting, most promising titles, and that across platforms from Nintendo Switch to Playstation to Xbox and PC, listed together with the date. This is how you can skilfully plan your vacation around your long-awaited releases! On the occasion of the fresh, young calendar year, Games Aktuell is now, as you may have noticed in part in the last issue, more dynamic and modern. In other words, we’ve mothballed what’s no longer up-to-date – such as the captions – we’ve created a more airy look for a more pleasant reading experience, and the images are finally allowed to spread out so that you can see the graphics and details better. So we did the spring cleaning on time and hope you like the result as much as we do.
However, there is one thing we have to say about this first issue, which was published in 2023: due to rampant inflation, which of course also affects us and the production of print publications, we felt compelled to slightly raise the price of Games Aktuell .

So, and now let’s talk about what awaits you in this issue apart from the huge preview stretch: We have two real treats in the test area for fans of Japanese games, Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion and the charming one-man indie project Chained Echoes, a love letter to the good old JRPG days. In the magazine part, this time we focus on one of the most popular game series of all time and in the whole world: GTA! In the report, we uncover how the first part of the series came about, as well as look at the tops, flops and of course the real scandals that GTA has caused.
