GNTM model Tessa Bergmeier (33) mixes up quite a bit in this year’s jungle camp. She regularly freaks out on TV and even messed with the “RTL” production team. Then she’s suddenly the nice friend next door again.

Wrong world? In “ point 12‘ Tessa revealed before she moved in that she suffers from bipolar disorder. The model also revealed this in the camp.

What exactly does that mean? In bipolar disorder, mood swings between two opposite extremes. During extreme high phases (mania), people with bipolar disorder are, among other things, exuberant, extremely active, irritable, erratic and restless.

Tessa even had to go to a clinic in 2010 because of her illness. She now reveals that she had been depressed for a year before and had suffered from manic phases. She didn’t really know who she was back then.

“At some point the body can no longer compensate for this and then turns away. Because you’re not sleeping anymore, you’re just awake,” Tessa told RTL. So is THAT the reason for her freak out in the jungle?

In episode three, the model described herself as “60 percent severely disabled”. For Gina-Lisa Lohfink (39), Tessa is simply “crazy”. The two TV stars were together in the reality show “Die Alm” in 2011, Gina-Lisa has known Tessa for years.

Gina-Lisa remembers in BILD-Buschfunk: “Tessa is actually even worse. Horror Tessa! I feel sorry for the RTL staff. It drives me crazy. There are people you like and you don’t like, but they just drive you crazy. I don’t get along with her.”

The two had already had their hair cut back then. Why is Tessa arguing with so many people? Gina-Lisa’s explanation: “She has a very ugly character. It’s her way. It really pisses you off. This is not beautiful and not nice and not pleasant. It upsets you.”

Harsh words from the TV personality. It’s not possible, finds Tessa’s best friend. She told BILD: “This statement is stigmatizing and insulting. This is an attack on a mental illness that no one chooses.”

And further: “In order to underline and clarify her antipathy towards Tessa, Gina-Lisa uses Tessa’s illness as an excuse but also as an explanation for Tessa’s behavior. As a friend, I find that very hurtful.”

Nevertheless, she can well imagine that Tessa “in the meantime offends with her style in the camp”. However, this does not give Gina-Lisa the right to “stigmatize people with mental illness”. “In this day and age, we should move forward as a society. Those affected should not be afraid to deal openly with their illness. Such a statement does exactly the opposite.”

With her statements, Gina-Lisa joins a group of people who publicly attack Tessa because of her illness and want to declare her insane. “No one here has the relevant skills or knowledge of the details,” says the friend.

But the one who has this knowledge is the psychologist Julia Grote. She makes it clear to “RTL”: Tessa’s bitches in the camp CAN, but don’t have to have anything to do with her bipolar disorder.

Grote: “I think the jungle camp is a stressful situation for everyone. You have no way of withdrawing, you are under observation all day and everyone reacts differently. Then some people get irritated. So you can’t say it’s due to that.”

All candidates are mentally and physically tested before moving in to see if they are suitable for the camp. NONE of the participants failed this test – neither did Tessa.
