There are numerous Easter eggs in the Netflix film “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”. Have you spotted the hidden clues and the ambiguous jokes?
In the Netflix film Knives Out sequel Glass Onion, there’s once again not only a star cast, but also plenty of hidden details for viewers to uncover.
A so-called Easter egg is already in the title: “Glass Onion” is the title of a song by the Beatles. The name of the first part was also originally a song, by Radiohead. By the way, the Beatles song can be heard at the end of the film, during the credits.
Glass Onion: Cameo appearance by Yo-Yo Ma
At the beginning of the film, the disruptors have to solve a few puzzles. Among other things, there is a melody by Bach that they should recognize. A guest at Birdie’s party solves the mystery. This guest is none other than world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
The evil eye on the invitations
The disruptors get blue invitations from Miles Bron, which have what appears to be a blue target drawn on them. These circles are actually a so-called “Mati” amulet.
The symbol is particularly present in Greece, where the film’s action takes place, but also in other countries. It is said to protect against the “evil eye” or “evil eye”.
Among Us: More Cameo Appearances
In one scene, Detective Benoit Blanc is in the bathroom performing “Among Us” with four other people. Did you recognize them all? They all have something to do with the theme of the film!
Another player is Stephen Sondheim. He wrote a crime novel. Incidentally, he also composed the song “Losing My Mind” that Blanc sang in “Knives Out”.
Natasha Lyonne has played the main role in the Netflix series “Matryoshka” (“Russian Doll”). She finds herself in a time warp there and, although she dies, she always comes back to life because she has a puzzle to solve. A reference to the character Andi Brand, who dies but somehow still seems to be alive.
Last but not least, some viewers are likely to see the NBA basketball player Kareem Abdul Jabbar have recognized. But what few people know: He also wrote a crime novel in which Sherlock Holmes’ brother Mycroft is the main character.
Cain’s Jawbone
Staying in the same scene: Blanc is in the bathroom and we see a lot of books lying around the bathtub. One of them is “Cain’s Jawbone”, a crime mystery by Edward Powys Mathers. Why this book is so interesting: The pages are in the wrong order and readers must figure out the correct order of events. The events in “Glass Onion” don’t run chronologically either, but are explained with the help of flashbacks.
The anonymous invitation
At the beginning of the film, it is not revealed who invited Benoit to the island. In “Knives Out” it was also the case that the detective received an anonymous invitation to solve the murder case.
Two actors from the first part are also present this time
Daniel Craig, who plays detective Benoit Blanc, would be the only ‘Knives Out’ actor to also play in the sequel. However, the truth is that two other cast members have also returned – but this time in different roles.
For example, there is the role of “Darol”, adapted to Daryl from “The Walking Dead”. The character is played by Noah Saganwho was in the first part as Trooper Wagner.
Then there is the voice of the “Dong”. Behind it is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also lent his voice to a character in “Knives Out”: Detective Hardock in a TV series that Marta is watching.
Marvel Easter Eggs
Two actors starring in “Glass Onion” are also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Dave Bautista plays Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy and Kathryn Hahn portrays Agatha Harkness in WandaVision. It’s all the funnier when Dave Bautista says in the original English version “Disruptors assemble” (German translation: “Disruptors hereby complete”): This is an allusion to the well-known words “Avengers assemble” (German: “Avengers, collect”) from the Marvel films.
But that’s not all: there will also be one in the film hot sauce by Jeremy Renner mentioned – the actor who portrays Hawkeye in the Marvel Universe.

Alpha and Omega
Miles Bron’s company is called “Alpha”, after the first letter of the Greek alphabet. But there are several places in the film the last letter of the Greek alphabet, “Omega”.. For example on the boat that takes guests to the island or as a brooch on Lionel Toussaint’s jacket.
