CDMX.- The Mexican actor Carlos Villagrán, famous for giving life to Quico in ‘El Chavo Del Ocho’, announced that he will stop playing the iconic character.

“The time has come to say goodbye to the people, goodbye to everyone […] Because of my age, out of respect for me, out of respect for people, out of respect for everyone. I’m old enough to retire,” the 78-year-old artist, who has been playing the famous spoiled child for more than 50 years, said last week in an interview with the “Hoy Día” program.

To say goodbye to his audience, Villagrán will tour with the Caballero brothers’ circus, which will pass through the US cities of Las Vegas, Phoenix and Los Angeles and will end on January 30. “It’s the goodbye tour because of how old I am,” he commented.

As for his future, the actor announced that he plans to write a book about his life that will include his successes and mistakes. “We are definitely not perfect, I have failed in many things. The fact of having so much work, I was married twice, I had two wives,” he asserted.

He also reflected on the things that his character Quico leaves him. “I think he leaves me everything. He goes hand in hand with Carlos Villagrán. All adults have a child inside and mine is called Quico,” she said.
