Google Stadia will officially close in 24 hours, specifically on January 19 at 08:59. But despite the imminent closure, the developer has decided to provide fans with one last game, a small project said to be the title the Stadia team used to test the platform’s features.
Known as the Worm Game, the title is essentially Snake and allows you to grow in size by eating things, while avoiding your own growing body trailing behind you. It has several game modes, including multiplayer where you have to be the longest and last worm to survive, and provided you have access to a Google account (and Stadia), it’s completely free to play.
IN the description of Worm Game it says:
“Play the game that came to Stadia before Stadia came to the world. “Worm Game” is a humble title we used to test many of Stadia’s features, starting well before our 2019 public launch, right through 2022. It won’t win Game of the Year, but the Stadia team spent a LOT of time playing it, and we thought we’d share it with you. Thanks for playing, and for everything.”
There’s no word on what will happen to Worm Game when Stadia shuts down tomorrow, but it’s likely that the game will no longer exist ever again – so be sure to check it out while you can.
