In recent years we have seen that Microsoft has been investing in cloud gaming and it is currently one of the main benefits for subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but unfortunately the Google Stadia service did not have the same luck. In September it was announced that Google Stadia was going to close its servers and as of today it is no longer possible to access to play in the cloud.

A few hours before the Google Stadia servers were closed, the official account of the service posted a message on their social networks thanking the fans for the support they have received over the years. These posts are full of positive feedback from those fans, including some who have been around since the first Stadia prototypes.

The Google Stadia servers closed yesterday, Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 11:59 pm PT, so as of today the platform has disappeared. Some users have reported that they can still play normally, but this will surely change in the next few hours.

Since November of last year, Google Stadia refunds began to be made, which include any purchase of video games and even accessories made within the official Stadia store. However, in the publication where the closure of the servers is confirmed, there are players saying that they still have not received their refunds, one of them assures that he has been waiting several weeks for a response from the support team.

In the time that has passed since the closure of Stadia was announced, many things have been revealed, such as the fact that High on Life was going to be a Stadia exclusive. Though critically it didn’t stand out among the other games, High on Life became the most successful game of 2022 for Xbox Game Pass despite being released in December, so it could have been the game that Google Stadia needed.
