Eintracht Frankfurt’s Mario Götze would continue to play for the national team in the future should his services be required. The 30-year-old explained to ‘Bild’: “If Hansi Flick calls me and asks, I’m there. It’s a big tournament, of course, and it would be super nice. But football is very fast-moving. I took the World Cup with me. I’m looking forward to more to come.”

But according to the Frankfurter, the framework conditions must be right: “But it has to fit into the context of the coach, the team and my performance. Of course the goal is to play in 2024. In the end, however, the performance on the pitch decides. You have to deliver every month to be part of the national team.” At the World Cup in Qatar, Götze was in the squad, but only made two brief appearances.
