President Alberto Fernández held a meeting on Tuesday at the Government House with some provincial leaders, at the end of which the governor of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich, announced “the signing of a request for impeachment” for poor performance of his duties as the four judges of the Supreme Court of Justice.

“Together with governors and governors, we have had a meeting with the president with the aim of promoting the signing of a request for impeachment within the framework of article 53 of the National Constitution, by virtue of the poor performance of functions of the four judges of Supreme Court of Justice,” Capitanich said during a conference at the Casa Rosada along with other representatives of the provinces, Télam published.

In this sense, the Chaco president announced that the presentation of the impeachment trial is motivated by “a series of facts” in which “a manifest bias” is observed that favors “a political bias.”

“They must be custodians of the Constitution. Argentines cannot be calm in terms of safeguarding life, property and freedom with members of a Court that forcefully violate the Constitution and the republican and federal principles of government,” Capitanich explained.

Likewise, the governor exemplified with the ruling of the Court with which the National State was ordered to increase the co-participating mass in favor of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA), by raising it to 2.95%.

“The Argentine provinces feel affected by the allocation of resources in a whimsical way. It is not true that it does not affect us. It affects us. We consider that the defense of the interests of our Argentine provinces and of federalism is an inalienable flag, because it is the basis to achieve equity and equality,” he said, as published by the news agency.

Beyond Capitanich, the governors Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires), Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero), Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa), Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego), Gildo Insfrán (Formosa) also participated in the meeting with the president. and Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja).

The meeting -which took place in the Eva Perón Room- also included the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo ‘Wado’ de Pedro, according to official sources, who stressed that other governors joined the conversations via teleconference.

Subsequently, on Twitter, Alberto Fernández himself ratified Capitanich’s expressions, attaching to the publication a text that explains the decision made by the present leaders, among whom was not the missionary Oscar Herrera Ahuad.

The meeting with provincial leaders is the second that the head of state has held after the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation issued a precautionary order in favor of the city of Buenos Aires on the proportion of federal co-participation funds for the district.

On Sunday morning, before traveling to Brazil to participate in the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, Fernández had publicly announced, through a letter, the decision to promote a request for impeachment against the head of the Court Supreme Court, also president of the Judicial Council.

In a text released on the first day of the year, the president added that it will be requested that “the conduct of the remaining members of the highest court be investigated.”

“I have summoned the governors who accompanied the National State in its petition against the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires so that, together, we promote the impeachment of the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation Horacio Rosatti,” he said in the letter.

In addition, in an interview with C5N in Brazil, Fernández expressed his “concern about what has happened in recent months, since there was a permanent advance of the Supreme Court over the other powers and the republic demands three independent powers.”

“What the Court did with the co-participation issue of the city of Buenos Aires becomes an act of interference” by Justice, he considered.

In this context, he pointed to Rosatti when he said that, in addition to being head of the Court, “he has the particularity of being president of the Council of the Magistracy, a consequence of the fact that he declared the unconstitutionality of a law with more than 16 years of validity that had been approved by Congress.”

“By virtue of that, he proclaimed himself president of the Council of the Magistracy,” he recalled.
