It’s not just PSVR 2 in the next Gran Turismo 7 update. The developers are preparing a nice surprise for players with more new cars than usual and a long-awaited feature.
Polyphony Digital continues to improve Gran Turismo 7 with each update. After a painful launch in March 2022 tarnished by an economic system calling for grind excessive, the studio was able to catch up with its mistakes and correct the situation with a whole lot of content and even requested features. Every month, players can then get their hands on new vehicles, with the exception of January 2023 when no patch has been deployed. So when Sony announces that theupdate February will give pride of place to the PSVR 2 version, a question persisted: will there be new features for everyone? Yes, and the studio is particularly generous.
Five new cars for Gran Turismo 7
The next Gran Turismo 7 update is just around the corner. From this Tuesday, February 21, 2023, fans of PlayStation’s auto simulation will be able to prepare for its arrival on PSVR 2.update will focus on compatibility with the new virtual reality headset and the addition of a Showroom VR mode allowing you to admire your cars and their interiors as if you were there. Nevertheless, ordinary mortals, who have had no patch since December, wondered about the possible presence of new content for those who would confine themselves to their PS5. PlayStation finally provides a clear and precise answer by revealing the content of the new update some nice surprises in the program.
With update 1.29 of Gran Turismo 7, it will not be a trio of vehicles that will arrive but a quintet. I’update will add the following models:
- Honda RA272 ’65 : first Japanese car to win an F1 race;
- Italdesign EXENEO Vision Gran Turismo in Street and Off-Road mode : a high-performance luxury car that will be available in two versions;
- Citroen DS 21 Pallas ’70 : first appeared at the 1955 Motor Show, it already represented an amazing vision of the future. This version includes deluxe interior and exterior features;
- Porsche 911 Carrera RS (901) ’73 : the elusive RennSport which was the first model in the car’s long history to sport the RS badge.
The AI Gran Turismo Sophy is finally coming to Run Together mode
The scapes also have the right to some new features. Players can now manage “Drift Level” and “Move Camera Up or Down”. Don’t panic, a tutorial will trigger to guide you through the steps of drift photography. Question circuit, the great classic of Gran Turismo is back. The Grand Valley will return with the full “Highway 1” configuration when GT7 update 1.29 rolls out. This demanding course includes both high-speed sections and tight, twisting turns that will put players’ technique to the test. The lighter configuration of 2,000 m “South” is based on many drops and bends to be taken blindly. A treat for lovers of challenges.
The big news, however, is the arrival of Gran Turismo Sophy announced for some time now. Developed by Sony and Polyphony Digitaln, it offers players of all levels and skills the opportunity to compete face-to-face with “superhuman and revolutionary racing AI”, explains the publisher in its press release. This special mode therefore aims to enhance the fun and intensity on four increasingly difficult circuits, as a Beginner / Intermediate / Expert driver, against four AI GT Sophy with different performance levels. If the player wishes, he can challenge the artificial intelligence of Gran Turismo 7 in 1v1 where it will resume the same car configurations and parameters. This new mode long awaited by fans will only be available on the PS5 version of GT7.
An update focused on the PSVR 2
See you next Tuesday to find out what this quartet will really be. As usual, the 1.29 update should come with new tracks and landscapes unpublished to photograph this new roster. Note also the use of the plural in Yamauchi’s message, which tease well “updates” suggesting that there will eventually be several. One thing is certain, theupdate 1.29 will focus on PSVR 2. Remember that Gran Turismo 7 and all of its content will be fully playable on the virtual reality headset, with the exception of two-player split-screen mode.
An exclusive feature will also make its appearance: the RV Showroom, which will allow visitors to admire their collection in “ultra high definition” and in ever more exotic locations. The PSVR 2 version of Gran Turismo will obviously take advantage of new hardware technology, including HDR, eye-tracking and 3D audio. Enough to promise an ever more immersive experience.
