Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions have big ambitions. The Japanese firm will rush into transmedia with no less than 10 adaptations. After the film Uncharted and the series The Last of Us which arrives in a few days, Gran Turismo will also be released in cinemas from August 11, 2023. On the occasion of its annual CES conference, Sony unveiled the first images of this film Gran Turismo. Here is what it will give.

First look at the Gran Turismo movie

Sony took advantage of its annual conference at CES to unveil a first video of the film Gran Turismo. The adaptation by Neill Blomkamp (District 9) will be based on a true story. It will tell the story of a teenage fan of Gran Turismo, whose in-game skills allowed him to become a true professional racing driver and win competitions. Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, two producers from PlayStation Productions, will oversee everything, while Jason Hall (Paranoia, American Sniper) will be in charge of writing the screenplay. The ensemble will be worn by a 5-star cast headlined by Orlando Bloom and David Harbor (Stranger Things).

For Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the license, adapting Gran Turismo in dark rooms will allow this franchise, which has become popular within the video game and automotive industries, to open up and become known to the general public. The film will therefore seek to capture what makes the essence of GT, namely the search for beauty, whether in cars, landscapes, lights or in driving itself. As a reminder, the film Gran Turismo will be available in cinemas on August 11, 2023.
