President Alberto Fernández commissioned this Tuesday the new comptroller of the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (Inadi), Greta Marisa Pena, whose designation became effective through decree 15/2023, published in the Official Gazette. The new inspector of the Inadi affirmed that she will work for the “consensus that unites society” of “freedom, equality and non-discrimination for any condition”, after meeting with the President.
“I thank the President for having honored me with the responsibility of leading an organization like Inadi which, 40 years after the return of democracy, It is a vital agency of the national state.”Pena added after meeting the president at Casa Rosada.
Decree 15/2023, through which Inadi’s intervention is also extended until December 10 of this year, bears the signatures of the Ministers of Justice, Martín Soria; and the Minister of Women, Gender and Diversity, Ximena Ayelén Mazzina Guiñazú. In the same legal norm Pena’s resignation from the position of Undersecretary for Diversity Policies is accepted of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity.
How was Greta Pena’s career before arriving at Inadi?
The new head of INADI She is a lawyer and journalist, she is 48 years old and has worked in the public sector for 25 years. She began militating in the socialist front FREPASO and then he would move to Peronism. In that political space, Pena advised deputies (between 1997 and 1999) and later – until the end of the alliance’s mandate – she was Chief of Staff of the Human Rights Secretariat in the De la Rúa government. Already with Alberto Fernánez as president, in November 2020, Pena was appointed as deputy director of the National Disability Agency. A year and a half later, she resigned and was relocated as undersecretary of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity, her last position before replacing Victoria Donda as head of Inadi.

According to his affidavit, Greta Pena’s wealth grew by 674% in the last five years. In 2016 his assets were 1.3 million pesos, while in 2021 it exceeded 10 million pesos. Her income from “work, rent and other income” went from $137,381 in 2016 to $4,186,169 in 2021.
In the last publication of his affidavit, he assured that he has three savings accounts for a total value of $808,313, a fixed term of $990,000 pesos and cash for $2,710. It also has two savings accounts in dollars totaling 111,499 pesos and a fixed term with $1,271,965.
