After the disappointment ofAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawe can say that Marvel fans are waiting for the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 with dread. Phase V of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is launched but, so far, the craze is not at its peak.

Luckily, the new (and final) adventure of Star-Lord and his gang should reconcile fans with Marvel Studios. Without promising us unreachable mountains, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 reminds us why we love superhero movies. And that’s ultimately all that matters.

Six years after the last Guardians of the Galaxy movie, the events ofAvengers : Infinity War et Avengers : Endgame always have consequences for our galactic friends. Particularly on Star-Lord, who is still mourning the loss of Gamora. But the universe is, once again, threatened and a member of the band is in the crosshairs of a formidable antagonist. You will have to wake up…

Get out the tissues!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sets the tone of the film from the very first seconds. In fact, the film opens with Creep from Radiohead as we follow Rocket through Knowhere. “But I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo, what the hell am I doin’ here? I don’t belong here” sings the raccoon. As the director promised us, the film promises to be darker than the two previous opuses.

In this third part, Rocket is under the spotlight. Indeed, the insolent raccoon of the gang is entitled to a origin story worthy of the name as its “creator” leaves no stone unturned to get it back. As you can imagine, an animal gifted with speech is not natural. So it was time to zoom in on this fan-favorite character.

If the Guardians of the Galaxy have accustomed us to their humor and their lightness, even in complicated situations, the stakes are really serious in this third opus. Therefore, the film brings us to tears several times. Between one last adventure for our favorite team and the snippets of Rocket’s moving past, the emotion assails us on several occasions.

However, like a tightrope walker, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 find the balance. Yes, don’t get me wrong: humor is always very present since it is inherent in these marginal heroes. A Guardians of the Galaxy movie without humor would be a shadow of its former self. Thus, James Gunn meticulously doses the comedy, the true identity of the saga, and the emotion necessary to conclude it. Which is a great point.

We would follow our Guardians to the end of the Galaxy

And Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is part of the MCU, the plot of this third film is not so much linked to the red thread that has been unfolding, slowly but surely, the house of ideas for some time. Here, no Kang the Conqueror or multiverse. And that’s good ! Our intergalactic superheroes continue their merry way through the Galaxy and do their best to protect it. It is, ultimately, all that is expected of this saga.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 succeeds in seducing us and the culprits of this victory are quite simply the various members of the band. Since 2014, they have all evolved and grown. They suffered. They got better. They opened up. In our eyes, it’s the characters that make all three films so successful. Guardians of the Galaxy. We love them and we would follow them to the end of the Galaxy.

That’s a superhero movie!

Ahhh… We had almost lost hope. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 gave us chills. With scenes more epic than each other, James Gunn reminds us of what we like about superhero movies, originally. We are entitled to memorable and colorful battles with many slow motions. And that, we love. Especially when there’s a great playlist playing in the background.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is also full of ingenious ideas and stunning plans with a staggering staging. Needless to say: Star-Lord and his gang always have aces up their sleeve. Even in the face of frighteningly powerful antagonists.

Faced with the Guardians of the Galaxy, there are beautiful people. Indeed, the Master of Evolution, creator of Rocket, is completely frosty and intends to create a “perfect” world. At the same time, our heroes must face Adam Warlock, who is overpowered but not very smart. We regret, all the same, its too secondary role compared to what Marvel sold us.

In addition, the feature film casts colossal uncertainty over the heads of all our favorite heroes. Nobody is safe, not even superheroes, and this constant precariousness makes the film even more interesting in our opinion.

Guardians of the Galaxy are true to themselves

Eventually, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has the effect of warm reunions with old comrades that we had lost sight of. James Gunn knows the recipe and offers us everything we expected from this last installment: a phenomenal soundtrack, extremely well-balanced humor, a lot of love and palpable emotion.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. If we don’t want to spoil the ins and outs of the film for you, let us just say that we couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion. Until the very last minute, our heroes keep up the pace and bid us a frenzied farewell. You come out of the session with wet eyes and a smile on your face.
