Gunmen kidnap five police officers in Zacatecas, Mexico

At least five Mexican Police officers have been kidnapped by a group of armed men who broke into the police station in the municipality of Villa Hidalgo, in the southeast of the state of Zacatecas.

The Spokesperson of the State Peacebuilding Roundtable has informed through its page on the Facebook social network that an “important coordinated operational deployment” has been carried out in which the Army, the National Guard and the Security Forces participate. Zacatecas Immediate Reaction (FRIZ) of the State Preventive Police.

“In addition to the Security Forces of the three orders of government, in the search and location actions, aerial tours are carried out with drones,” the entity has indicated, adding that the State Preventive Police has taken command of the municipal corporation.

This is the second incident of this type in this area in less than a week, since last Tuesday the local authorities reported the kidnapping of two policemen. Hours later, one of the agents was found dead in the municipality of Loreto, while there is no news about the second agent.
