CDMX.- As former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein faces two counts of rape and five counts of sexual assault, in Los Angeles and a 23-year sentence handed down in New York on more counts of sexual assault and rape, a new allegation has surfaced in his against.
The producer, writer and former actress Lisa Pekar, wrote an article for The Warp in which she recounts episodes in which she met Weinstein in her attempt to boost her career as an actress. Her story focuses on publicizing the sexual assaults that received from the former producer.
Lisa Pekar writes that she met Weinstein in 2001 during the Miramax Oscar party, he was introduced to him by producer Fabrizio Lombardo of Miramax Italy. She and a friend were invited into Harvey’s suite, where Fabrizio and his friend left them alone in the hall; Pekar recounts that at that time Weinstein behaved like a gentleman, was kind and made several promises for her career as an actress.
After the first meeting, Lisa was contacted by Weinstein’s assistant to offer her an audition with him, the actress attended and it was there that she experienced the first assault. Instead of being asked to read out a script, which is expected in an audition for an actress, Weinstein ordered her to remove her clothes, arguing that “getting naked makes an actress stand out,” he said.
Lisa agreed to their requests, considering that she was not in a situation where she could refuse. She says that suddenly Harvey began to undress, she thought it was not possible for him to attack her but, according to her story, she did.
“But then he took off his pants and told me how it worked in Hollywood. He said the more I helped him, the more he’d help me. He said he’d recently had a vasectomy, so if we had sex, I wouldn’t get pregnant. The nausea kicked in. when he bragged about the careers of everyone he was responsible for, saying no one ever told him no. He said he was in good company and he screwed them all up,” Pekar’s article described.
After recounting how Harvey tried to get her to perform oral sex on him between screams and denials, she says that the former producer walked away from her without warning her: “I wouldn’t mention this if I were you.”
After that episode, Lisa got a small role in a tape with Gwyneth Paltrow, days later she was contacted again by Weinstein’s assistant to offer her an appointment with a prominent casting director, after the appointment she was asked to go to the Harvey’s suite if she wanted to get a role, a request that she refused and assures that from there, her acting career sank.
Years later, Lisa and Harvey met again at the Cannes Film Festival where she was presenting one of her productions, there, Harvey asked her for a meeting with her and her producing partner, which she could not refuse, since she had not talked about your past experience. During the meeting, they were taken to Weinstein’s room.

Lisa argues that she spent almost twenty years in silence out of fear, and that no person who has not been a victim of sexual assault could understand the fear of “opening her mouth”, however, she decided to go public with her experience to help more victims raise the voice, and in support of those who have already done so and have taken the former producer to court.
