New Windows Media Player app is released for all Windows 10 users and replaces the Groove Music app.
Groove Music has finally come to an end as Windows 10’s default music player. Now, when accessing the Microsoft Store, you will no longer be able to find Groove Music, as the app has been replaced by “Windows Multimedia Player”. According to Microsoft, Windows Media Player replaces Groove Music (Groove Musica) and the music library and playlists will be transferred to the new application.
The new Windows Multimedia Player is faster than Groove Music and can play not only music but videos as well. The app indirectly replaces the Movies & TV app. Another interesting feature of Media Player is the ability to rip CDs.
If you’re using Windows 11, chances are you’ve already used the new Windows Media Player app. But now it’s the turn of Windows 10 users to have access to the app.
Launch and availability
The new Windows Multimedia Player application (Windows Media Player) is now available to everyone on Windows 10. However, Microsoft is making the update available gradually and if you haven’t received the update, wait a little longer.
