Australian Raine Kent has managed to design a supersonic skateboard. On this electric skateboard, the daredevil engineer reached a top speed of 132.37 km/h. Enough to beat the previous world record.

Soon, skateboards will challenge the biggest racing cars in speed races… Australian Raine Kent is making electric skateboards capable of reaching phenomenal speeds. In particular, he was looking to break the world record of 96 km/h in electric skateboarding. Record that he not only beat but above all knocked out!

His custom-designed electric skateboard reached a top speed of 132.37 km/h. To ensure his safety and protect himself as much as possible, the engineer was equipped with a full racing helmet and a special suit. What’s more, he had designed the angles of the trucks in such a way as to stem the phenomenon of “speed oscillations”. As its name suggests, this can occur when the skate is hoisted at too high a speed. The board could then wobble and cause an accident.

Electric skateboards have become racing cars

A lover of thrills, the engineer is very happy with his performance. “The speed, the adrenaline, the rush – I love it. It was very scary but exciting at the same time and it was good to realize something I had been talking about for so long. Breaking the record was awesome and hopefully we will hold it for a few years to come”explains the one who now swears only by e-skateboarding.

Kent is the head of Raith, a company specializing in the sale of high performance skateboards. Among the models available, we find in particular the electric skateboard AWD Vengeance, which would be able to reach a top speed of 130 km/h. The most daring pilots won’t be able to beat Kent’s record without counting on a substantial tailwind. Obviously, this type of model is not for ordinary mortals.

Other skates offer more reasonable speeds like the Raith Midnight and its 60 km/h. However, this is still far too high for urban mobility: skating at this pace is far too dangerous in the city.
