The Carrefour brand, the leading private employer in France, announces that it will pay for additional days off for women who suffer from endometriosis. In France, one in ten women is affected by this disease.

From the summer of 2023, Carrefour employees suffering from endometriosis, particularly painful periods, will be entitled to 12 days of absence per year, financed by the company. Three days will also be offered in the event of a miscarriage. “I find it very good for women who have this disease”confides Pauline Louvet, hostess at Carrefour.

Open the way

Carrefour is paving the way, it will give visibility to these female diseases, which are invisible, and of course we must continue with other pathologies afterwards”, commented Yasmine Candau, president of the EndoFrance association. The systematic right to menstrual leave is not currently provided by Carrefour. Even if one in two French people suffers from painful menstruation, only a handful of SME bosses have taken the plunge.
