Doc Caro is coming back to Essen, where she worked at the university clinic until spring 2021. When and why the popular doctor is in town.
The emergency doctor Carola Holzner, known as “Doc Caro”, is coming back to Essen – but only for one appearance. The doctor, who moved from the University Hospital in Essen to the Helios Clinics in Duisburg in spring 2021, is on a reading tour: on Tuesday, March 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., she will be at the AOK at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 49 in downtown guest.

“No half measures” is the name of her new book, in which she wants to let her readers look behind the scenes of the emergency room. It shows what really matters: justice, responsibility, compassion. The prominent emergency and intensive care physician tells moving stories, for example about the single mother who refuses a vital operation for fear of losing her job. Or about the desperate father who wants to give meaning to the death of his little daughter by shaking up young doctors.

“And she tells of miracles that amaze her listeners and that can happen when people surpass themselves,” announces the AOK Rhineland/Hamburg, which is presenting the reading tour. The tour starts on January 24th in Oberhausen and ends on May 4th in Gummersbach. Doc Caro’s mission is to make medicine understandable for everyone. And so she shows on the reading evenings what each and every individual can do for themselves and for others. Their message is combined with practical exercises in first aid.
It is seen as an important task “to inspire people to lead a healthy life and to teach them about health,” says Sabine Deutscher, board member of AOK Rheinland/Hamburg. with dr Carola Holzner has found the perfect health partner, “who is valued for her direct and authentic manner and enjoys the trust of the population”.
In the video blog, the doctor explains complex medical topics
Doc Caro is a regular guest on radio and television talk shows and produces video blogs in which she explains complex medical issues in a simple way. With her first book “One for all: As an emergency doctor between hope and reality” she reached number 1 on the Spiegel bestseller list. These days it became known that her show “Doc Caro – Einsatz mit Herz” will be discontinued on Sat.1 and she will switch to RTL Germany.
