Only when the fire brigade fought from three sides with three turntable ladders and several water cannons did the measures finally have an effect. During the operation, parts of the roof fell into the building, which made it very difficult to extinguish the fire, according to the fire brigade. In addition, the Technical Relief Agency was called in to open a wall for further extinguishing measures.

According to the fire department, the building near the local Lidl branch was empty and human lives were not in danger. Firefighters finally had the fire under control by late evening. The fire brigade will be on site for post-extinguishing and clean-up work into the night. The directly adjacent halls and buildings were only minimally damaged. The police have started the investigation.
