Reproducing the voices of the two Canadian artists to near perfection, the track – which evokes in particular the relationship between The Weeknd and Selena Gomez – managed to deceive some Internet users, thinking that it was a leak of a real collaboration.
From, Heart on My Sleeve was listened to by more than 9 million users on TikTok and was even temporarily made available on Spotify and Deezer before being removed by the platforms.
More and more frequent fictional creations
For several months, artificial intelligence has made a name for itself in the world of music by reproducing in a very realistic way the voices of a multitude of singing stars such as Eminem, Rihanna or Kanye West.
At the end of March, it’s a fictional track by Jay-Z, Savages, which also managed to deceive netizens. The title was composed by the Franco-American duo AllttA (20syl and Mr J. Medeiros) who had fun reproducing the voice of the American rapper. David Guetta had also already used this creative process last February to generate a voice close to that of Eminem during a live concert.
If they are ingenious, these creations nevertheless raise questions about the future of the music industry and raise the question of copyrights and credits. In an attempt to regulate the field as much as possible, Universal Music Group notably asked the main streaming services in early April to ban artificial intelligence companies in order to avoid new fake songs in the future.
