The Ukrainian president addressed his compatriots a few hours after the crash of a helicopter near kyiv in which the Minister of the Interior was. He notably announced that a criminal investigation had been opened.

“The Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal investigation into this terrible event,” Volodymyr Zelensky announced in his daily address, referring to the crash of a helicopter near kyiv on Wednesday morning.

During this accident which occurred in the city of Brovary, “25 people were injured, including 11 children while 14 people were killed, including a child”, affirmed the Ukrainian president. Among the victims is Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskywho was going to the front.

This crash, which occurred four days after a Russian missile strike that killed 45 people in Dnipro, in eastern Ukraine, aroused great emotion.

The trail of Russian sabotage

The Ukrainian security services have indicated that they are considering all avenues, including a “deliberate action of destruction”. Volodymyr Zelensky has also launched: “This crash is not an accident because it is due to the war (…) There are no accidents in time of war.”

Guest of BFMTV, Alexander Makogonov, spokesman for the Russian Embassy in France, assured that there was “no Russian sabotage” on the helicopter which crashed in Brovary.

“You shouldn’t see the Russians behind every event in the world,” he added.

During this investigation, Volodymyr Zelensky “instructed the head of the security service of Ukraine, in cooperation with all other authorized bodies, to clarify all the circumstances of the accident”.

“As soon as clear facts are established as to what exactly led to the accident, we will provide this information,” concluded the Ukrainian president.
