A motorist lost control of his vehicle and injured six in a wild rodeo on Friday evening. BFMTV met one of the victims.

For Jeanne, the wild rodeos “it’s over”. Walking with difficulty, leaning on her crutch, she returned to the Bordeaux road which still bears the traces of the accident.

On Friday evening, the 18-year-old was attending an unauthorized car race in a parking lot with around 100 other people when a motorist lost control of his vehicle and drove into the crowd.

“I watched the drifter cars,” she says at the microphone of BFMTV. “The car that hit us came from this path and, when it skidded, it missed the road so it ended up on the sidewalk. I was placed here and I ended up at least five meters further”.

“I no longer felt my leg”

Hit by the car, Jeanne could no longer get up. “It was impossible for me to get up, I couldn’t feel my leg anymore, it was shaking too much, they carried me, they dropped me off in the parking lot, I waited for the firefighters, they arrived and took me away. supported directly”, she continues.

Since then, the young woman has had difficulty moving her leg. “When I want to walk, it’s like there’s something holding me back, I can’t move my leg as I want, when I’m lying down I find it hard to get up, the pain blocks me and m prevents you from doing anything” deplores the one who no longer intends to go to this kind of event: “no, it’s over, I won’t go anymore”.

The arrested driver

In total, the accident injured six people, including a minor. Four of them “seem more slightly injured” than the other two, “whose state of health was worrying” Friday evening, said the prosecutor of the Republic of Bordeaux, Frédérique Porterie, in a press release this Saturday morning.

The driver of the vehicle first fled after the accident, before being intercepted by witnesses and then arrested by the police. He was taken into custody with his three passengers. The Bordeaux prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for aggravated involuntary injuries.

These wild races are not new in Gironde. A year ago, the risk of an accident had already been identified by the police. An operation had been launched to put an end to these urban rodeos, several vehicles had been seized and the drivers arrested by the Bordeaux police.
