Help with home repairs for low-income families in Harris County

HOUSTON – The organization Rebuilding Together Houston (RTH) announced the expansion of its service area to rural areas of Harris County thanks to a donation of $500,000 made by the US Department of Agriculture, which will be used to cover these repairs.

RTH makes repairs to homes for low-income homeowners.

“These repairs are especially important for this summer,” said RTH Executive Director Christine Holland, “as many low-income homeowners cannot afford potentially life-saving equipment, such as window air conditioning units or window repairs. roofs or exteriors during hurricane season.”

Among the repairs that RTH carries out, in addition to those already described, structural repairs, plumbing and electricity are contemplated.

The new ZIP codes covered by RTH services are 77336, 77375, 77377, 77429, 77433, 77447, 77449, 77484, 77493, 77532, 77561 and 77562.

Interested parties must meet certain requirements such as not exceeding an income level of 50% of the AMI, being the owner of the property and living full time in it, being up to date with property tax payments and not owning other properties.
