Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has been much discussed since the battle royale sequel’s launch in November. The changes from the first Warzone haven’t worked out as well as Infinity Ward had hoped, and now the developer is taking action.

Via the game’s website this week the team released a list of extensive tweaks to the gameplay experience. These will roll out on February 15, alongside Warzone 2.0’s new content season.

Big changes

Among other things, players can expect an overhaul of the “loot” system. Instead of having to go into menus to pick up equipment, everything you find will now be strewn on the ground – whether it’s from opening a cupboard or the belongings of an enemy you’ve crushed.

Furthermore, backpack upgrades disappear entirely from the battle royale mode. You therefore have to make do with the standard rucksack, and cannot carry as many items with you – for example “self revives” – as before. The bulletproof vest with only two armor plates also goes away, and all players are equipped with three plates from the moment they jump out of the plane.

The Gulag – which lets you fight for a chance to return from the dead – will also be different. Instead of battles between two teams of two players, Infinity Ward is going back to one-on-one, like it was in Warzone.

Victory in the Gulag also gives you more money, so you can get back on your feet faster. Overall, you will also find and earn more cash than before. The exception is the missions you carry out, which will give slightly less money.

Loadouts are also here to stay, and these will be slightly cheaper to pick up from purchase stations. It will also cost less to buy individual Loadout weapons, and the game introduces Perk Packs so you can get special abilities even if you can’t find a Loadout box.

DMZ reboot, becomes easier

Fans of the Escape from Tarkov-like mode DMZ can also expect changes. The biggest adjustment is that the whole thing starts all over again, and players lose all progress, weapons and other items they have picked up.

A bunch of new missions come in, which won’t be as strenuous this time. According to the developer, the missions became too difficult too quickly as players progressed, and the difficulty level is lowered a few notches. Computerized enemies will also be a little easier to deal with.

Across the entire Warzone spectrum – battle royale and DMZ – Infinity Ward continues to work to stabilize the experience and avoid crashes. Balance changes for weapons are also to be introduced, but how this will be is not yet confirmed.

The developer has also not said anything more about the new map and the Resurgence mode. More information on this is expected next week.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s multiplayer is also getting a ton of changes, including new maps and modes. You can read more about everything to come on the game’s website.
