The drama took place in a residential area of this village located about twenty kilometers northwest of Montpellier in the Hérault, shortly after 7 p.m. at the home of the ex-companion of the gendarme, specified the prosecutor of the Republic of Montpellier, Fabrice Belargent. Neighbors raised the alarm after hearing several shots fired in the villa.
Murder out of jealousy
According to the prosecutor, “the victim was killed by 6 to 7 bullets probably fired in a burst using a 5.56 caliber assault rifle”.
“It was a personal weapon of the respondent who was a sports shooter,” he said.
The house was the joint property of the gendarme and his former partner. The research section of the Montpellier gendarmerie was seized of the procedure.
