Artificial intelligence in the context of advertising has been a big topic of conversation during the week leading up to Walborg.
The Republican Party of the United States published a commercial on Social Media where they paint with dystopian brushstrokes what they think will happen if Joe Biden wins the presidential election again in 2024.
The special thing about the film is that it is completely created with the help of artificial intelligence – the images shown are not authentic but generated – something that in American media described as “a milestone” in politics.
Nightmare pizza
But what has generated the most views on social media may not have been politics, but rather pizza and beer.
A fake pizzeria commercial was posted on Reddit with the headline “Definitely wasted three hours of my life doing this today… It’s all AI”.
The AI-created pizza ad quickly went viral, has been viewed millions of times, and has been described as “nightmarish” and “This is what hell looks like”.
During May Day, another AI-created fake film was released viral – this time an “interpretation” of a typical American beer commercial. And this time too, many have reacted with horror.
At the same time, many are amazed by the creative results, point out that “the future is here”, and speculate about what the technology can mean for the film industry when the results start to improve.
