Hispanic accused of shooting SEPTA driver after dispute on Route 57 bus

A Philadelphia Hispanic is charged with shooting a SEPTA bus driver after a dispute aboard the bus.

Heriberto Acevedo Jr., 33, is reportedly facing charges of aggravated assault, weapons violation, possession of the instrument of offense, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

The alleged suspect, who is homeless, is prohibited from possessing a firearm for a 2018 weapons conviction in Bucks County and a 2019 drug possession conviction in Philadelphia.

Acevedo reportedly shot a SEPTA bus driver on Route 57 after a verbal exchange on board the truck. Once the suspect got out of the bus, he fired a shot that only hit the driver’s window and no one was injured.

This occurred in the 4200 block of North Front Street on July 14 at 5:55 a.m.
