A walker discovered a dead person in a burned-out Citroën in the Wedau sports park in Duisburg. He also found a second car.

After a walker found a body in a burned-out car in the Wedau sports park on the morning of Christmas Day, a murder commission investigated in Duisburg.

As the police announced on Tuesday, the man had alerted the emergency services at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning. When he went for a walk on Friedrich-Alfred-Allee, he came across two cars: A red Audi, completely deformed, was standing at the end of the cul-de-sac near the water ski facility. Apparently he hit a tree head-on. There was no trace of the driver.

In the immediate vicinity of the Audi, the man also discovered a burned-out Citroën Berlingo on the sidewalk. A male corpse sat in the driver’s seat. It was still unclear on Tuesday afternoon who it was. “The man has not yet been identified,” said police spokeswoman Julia Schindler. The owners of the cars have not yet been found at their residential addresses.
