Guerrilla Games is celebrating Horizon Forbidden West’s first anniversary with stats, a thank you video and goodies for PlayStation 5 and 4 users.
It’s been a year since Aloy took up arms again to live the Horizon Forbidden West adventure on PS5 and PS4. A first candle that the developers blow out with the players.
Already 1 year!
Time passes at such crazy speed that it’s already been a year sinceHorizon Forbidden West landed on PlayStation consoles. A grandiose sequel that has made great progress in many areas (gameplay, narration…). Four years of hard work as stated by Game Director Mathijs de Jonge:
It’s hard to describe what it feels like on game launch day, but any developer in our industry understands the mix of excitement, stress and suspense when it comes to getting your first reactions. . We spend most of the day monitoring social media, checking stats and reading early reactions, while of course sharing a moment with the team, rejoicing at the incredible results over four years of work, now presented to the eyes of the world.

The other gift, paying off this time, is that Horizon Forbidden West is part of the February 2023 PS Plus Extra games. the soundtrack which will finally be released on May 19th.
The future of franchising
The Horizon Forbidden West adventure will be extended on April 19, 2023 with the Burning Shores expansion which, unfortunately, will be shunning the PS4. There’s still time to see for this DLC, but if you’re planning on picking up a PSVR 2, Aloy and new characters will be central to the Horizon Call of the Mountain game. An exclusive available at the launch of the PS5 headset on February 22, 2023.
In the longer term, the franchise will have its own Netflix series Horizon 2074 and on the video game side, Fortnite-style multiplayer could be released, although it is not certain that the project still exists. What is certain is that Guerrilla Games is looking to have multiplayer in its license… for Horizon 3? The future will tell.
