After finding success and then disappointment with the horror franchise Remothered, Chris Darril is back with Bye Sweet Carole.
In 2018 came out Remothered : Tormented Fathers, a survival-horror which, without meeting a phenomenal success, had managed to find its audience. Unfortunately, its sequel, Remothered: Broken Porcelain, was extremely disappointing. But its creator, Chris Darril, has not given up. So here he is back in horror with Bye Sweet Carolhis brand new game.
Bye Sweet Carole, a promising horror game
In 2022, the Italian game designer Chris Darril had already teased a certain Bye Sweet Caroll. He then presented it as “an interactive traditional animated fairy tale”in the form of “survival horror”. The project is now dated for 2024, without further details. Creator of the project, the man also officiates there as a screenwriter and director, working alongside the developers of his studio, Little Sewing Machine. Except for a few visuals, the title published by Just For Games remains shrouded in mystery. He just offers us a teaser of his synopsis on the game’s official website.
For his new project, the author of the horror series Remothered has chosen an artistic direction inspired by the greatest animated films. The awe-inspiring visuals will support the incredible adventures of main character, Lana Benton, in her quest to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of Carole Simmons.

A spiritual successor to American McGee’s Alice?
Not much is known about this mysterious Bye Sweet Carole, but the universe is reminiscent of animated films such as Disney’s. Just For Games does not hide it through its communication. But, more personal speculation, the universe of the game could well be inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The visual atmosphere has something to do with it, but it is above all certain details that put us on the alert. The bunny emoji used in the tweet, first. We also find the animal in the “O” of “Carole” on the title of the game. A rabbit wearing a jacket and who is always late, does that mean anything to you? Even the name, moreover, can make one think of Lewis Caroll, the author of the book. Finally, on the “B” of “Bye”, we note the presence of a top hat which is reminiscent of that of the Mad Hatter.
One could therefore imagine a universe at the Alice in Wonderland. But the game being horrifying, this universe could well be made nightmarish. A bit like what American McGee had done with Alice: Madness Returns and its predecessor. The third opus has also been definitively buried by EA.
