The details of the program for the horse market on Sunday, May 7th in downtown Bottrop have been finalized. Friends of equestrian sports, horse fans and families with children can marvel at the show program around the church square from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., get information or get active themselves.

Because if you like, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride: You can go through the inner-city district in an open covered wagon. And between shows, children have the opportunity to ride ponies themselves.

Horse market in Bottrop: pairs of riders show a “pas de deux”

The show program was put together by the experienced horse trainer Christian Sauer, reports the city. He has two mules and twelve horses gallop to demonstrate various training exercises. In the “pas de deux”, pairs of riders perform a coordinated choreography. In another show, the special challenges for horses are explained by knights. While horses normally react to small signals, the horses must not be distracted by flags, noises and the rider’s shifting of weight.

Christian Sauer explains the correct handling of horses in several appearances. For example, it is about getting the animal used to the saddle or the question of how horses are kept fit in old age. In addition, with the “Ridingboard” he has developed an instrument for the correct sitting posture of riders. With the help of this special spirit level, riders keep their balance in the saddle.

The “Shettyflitzer” should bring a lot of fun to the church square with their dressage. Two mules are also expected from a hiking riding stable in Kassel.

In addition, there are stalls at the horse market where accessories and useful things for horse and rider are offered. At a flea market, used items can change hands. Parallel to the horse market, the shops in the city center are open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Construction work for the horse market will begin on Saturday, May 6th. 40 tons of sand from the Stremmer company in Kirchhellen are applied to the church square to enable the horses to step safely. The floor covering is then passed on to a sanctuary and a riding stable.
