Two years ago, the Finnish developers at Housemarque went from being more or less undercover for hardcore fans, to releasing the basically universally acclaimed Returnal exclusively for the Playstation 5. Although it didn’t sell many – VGChartz reporting just over 560,000 units in the first three months, the success was nevertheless a fact, which not least the BAFTA award for best game was partly proof of.

Among other things, all the great criticism led to Sony buying up the studio just months after the game’s launch, and the developers have continued to continuously deliver updates to appease fans. Among other things, a (according to the undersigned fantastic) co-op mode and a more traditional rogue mode called Tower of Sisyphus.

Meanwhile, Returnal was released for PC, unfortunately again to somewhat underwhelming sales figures, but fortunately that doesn’t stop Housemarque from celebrating that today marks two years since Selene crash-landed on Atropos. On Twitter, Housemarque is now inviting its fans to celebrate with them, and share their favorite art or screenshots from the game in the comments.

Unfortunately, we do not yet have any information about any new projects. It’s been previously reported that the developers intend to use scrapped Returnal ideas for the next game, so maybe it’s a relatively closely related title they’re working on? The future will simply tell – today we celebrate!

A very, very strong buy recommendation from the undersigned.
