As recalled, the Congress of the republic has filed a motion for interpellation against Maurate after his questioning and accusations after taking over the reins of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
Pérez de Cuéllar also indicated that the Executive is respectful of the decisions it makes in the Legislature, but he assured that he trusts that this will not come to pass, since at this time the country needs to continue advancing.
“In this Government we are very respectful of the privileges and also of the decisions that Congress makes, in that sense. We respect your supervisory role, I am sure that an understanding will be reached. The president has ratified Minister Maurate and our vocation is to work, we have huge gaps to reduce and we are committed to it, ”she said in conversation with the media.
Since Daniel Maurate He took the reins of the Ministry of Justice, his name has not stopped starring in the front pages of the media, as many politicians have questioned his appointment, since the current head of the Minjus would have had an approach with the members of the “Los Cuellos Blancos” case. .
Among the characters with whom he is linked to Daniel Maurate stands the former supreme judge Cesar Hinostroza, the businessman Antonio Camayo, the former president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) Edwin Oviedo and others; with whom he would have had frequent communications between the months of February 2015 to July 2016 and from July 2016 to January 2018.
In addition, he has been criticized, since he never mentioned these links, but they have been revealed by the media, where these alleged connections with the protagonists of this criminal network have been made clear.
Given this, a group of congressmen consider it necessary for the Minister of Justice to answer a list of 21 questions that is attached to the motion for interpellation, which was presented last Thursday, May 4, in the Document Processing and Digitization Area of the Congress of the republic.
“This attitude of hiding or concealing friendly relations with people investigated for crimes against the administration of justice, in its modality of influence peddling, incompatible negotiation and corruption of officials, means that the questioned minister does not meet the ethical and moral conditions for the exercise of the public function that has been designated, even more so when the extradition process of the investigated César Hinostroza depends on this ministry ”, reads the motion entered by congressman Héctor Valer, from Somos Perú.
According to a journalistic report from the newspaper Perú21, it was revealed that there were up to 26 telephone calls between the minister and Hinostroza, between May 2015 and November 2017. The communications last between 13 seconds and 3 minutes.
When explaining, Daniel Maurateassured that these conversations are only part of football dialogues and that he did not comment on it to President Dina Boluarte or Premier Alberto Otárola because it was not relevant at all.
