LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James had 21 points in his first game since breaking the NBA scoring record, and Anthony Davis had 28 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the revamped Lakers’ 120-102 win Wednesday night. Los Angeles over the New Orleans Pelicans.
D’Angelo Russell added 21 points and seven assists and was warmly greeted as he returned to the field for the Lakers, who won their second game of six. All five new signings from Los Angeles made their home debuts and the hosts never lost their lead.
The Lakers enter the All-Star break in 13th place out of 15 teams in the Western Conference, with a 27-32 record. But the season is not over yet and the team has received promising reinforcements.
Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley joined James and Davis in the starting five, while Mo Bamba fouled out after 16 minutes.
Brandon Ingram scored 25 points and CJ McCollum added 22 points and nine assists for the Pelicans, who lost just their second game of six.
