This January 19 was inaugurated the Floating Causeway in it Chapultepec Forest. It’s about a pedestrian and cyclist crossing that connect the first section with the secondthrough a distance of 248 meters.

For the construction of this space, more than 5 thousand square meters were intervened without affecting the urban environment and it is a sustainable project for which 474 trees were planted and 115 were transplanted.

The Floating Causeway it was designed with circles and prints based on sensory experience and respect for ecosystems, according to the Government of Mexico City. Also has 26 steel columns with sustainable geometry.

To get to this site by public transport there are two options, the first is by Metro Constituents that connects with the second section of the Forest, from where you must walk to Avenida de los Compositores, which is the starting point of the road.

The second option is chapultepec station, which connects with the first section of the Forest. You must walk from the Puerta de los Leones in the direction of Los Pinos on Calzada Molino del Rey to start the tour.

In the opening event participated Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorpresident of Mexico; Claudia SheinbaumHead of Government of Mexico City, Alejandra Fraustohead of the Ministry of Culture and Gabriel Orozco, the artist in charge of the master plan for the Bosque de Chapultepec.

This sustainable project that connects the Bosque de Chapultepec had budget of more than 300 million pesos. Overall, this January 19 was inaugurated the Chapultepec Environmental Culture Center.

Marina Robles, head of the Environment Secretariat (Sedema) of Mexico City, pointed out that: “With the Chapultepec Forest Floating Causeway we guarantee that citizens have access to their biological heritage and we reiterate our commitment to sustainability, innovation and culture”.

The Floating Causeway is part of the Bosque de Chapultepec project: Nature and Culturein which are contemplated 41 interventions across and across the now four sections. All are planned to take place before 2024.

The main axes of this reform there are four: turning the forest into a sustainable biocultural spaceexecute a comprehensive plan of mobility between sections and urban spaceexpand and strengthen the cultural infrastructure and make of public space a safe, diverse and inclusive right.

Currently, the Chapultepec Forest has an extensive cultural offer that includes guided tours, workshops and picnics. Although the first picnic of the year that was scheduled for January 21 was cancelled, this space offers other activities.

Tours are planned for January 2023 Paseo de la Emperatriz, Punta del grasshopper, Botanical Garden and Path of Culture. In the The following workshops are also on the agenda:

photographing nature with the mobile phone: Sundays, January 29 from 12:30 p.m.

botanical watercolor on the esplanade of the Site Museum and Visitor Center: Sunday, January 22 at 12:00 o’clock.

Outdoor watercolor sessions: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January from 12:00.
