The lists of Twitter are a great option for segmenting your feed. The social network lets you create custom groups with the accounts you’ve chosen and displays a timeline with just the respective publications.
The social network has two main feed options: “For You”, with suggestions made by the algorithm, including accounts that you don’t follow, and “Following”, with the chronological order of publications by those you follow. The list can be used to filter even further, with favorite journalists, teams you support, favorite series and so on.
Before using it, know that the feature has some limits:
- Each profile can create up to 1,000 lists;
- Each list can have up to 5000 accounts.
How to create a Twitter list on mobile
- In the Twitter side menu, tap on “Lists”;
- Select the list icon to create a new one;
- Give it a name and, if you like, add a description and cover photo;
- Use the search to find the profiles you want to include and tap “Add”.
- To see the tweets, access the list tab again and select the created set.

- Click the “More” button on Twitter’s side menu;
- Select the option “Lists”;
- Press the list icon in the upper right corner;
- Insert the name of the list and, if you want, add cover photo and description;
- Choose the accounts you want to include.
How to make a list private
By default, lists are public and anyone can follow them, but there is an alternative to limiting them to your profile:
- Open a list;
- Tap the “Edit list” button;
- Check the “Private” option — you can also enable this setting on the list creation screen.

- Select “Manage Members”;
- Tap “Remove” to delete an account;
- To add new users, access the “Suggestions” tab.

- In the “Edit List” screen, change the title, cover or description;
- Press “Delete List” to remove it.
How to find suggestions made by the community
You can also follow lists created by other people on Twitter. In the section dedicated to the feature, look for the “Discover New Lists” tab and see the options listed.
You can tap one of the names to see the latest tweets and choose to follow or not.
How do I see if I’m on a Twitter list?
When someone puts you on a public list, Twitter sends you a notification. In addition, it is also possible to discover all the groups in which the account is present:
- Access the list screen;
- Tap the three dots icon in the upper right corner of the screen;
- Select “Lists you are on”;
- View all options.
It is not possible to remove your profile from someone else’s list. In this case, the alternative is to block the creator, so that their tweets do not appear.
If you want to restrict the content you publish on the social network, you can also create a Twitter Wheel and choose who can interact with the publications.
