During the show they showed Hugh Jackman a clip from the first X-Men movie where we see him fighting Mystique, after which they asked the actor a couple of questions. The first was how they dealt with the height difference between the actor and his character, while the second was how he learned to deal with the metal claws while filming.
“I actually stabbed mystique’s doppelganger”, says the actor about the scene they showed him. After this, Hugh Jackman explains that for some reason Wolverine’s claws were initially metallic and sharp, so they were a real danger if not used carefully. “I don’t know what they were thinking”, recalls the actor.
During this time Hugh Jackman spent a lot of time at home practicing with Wolverine’s claws, as many action scenes awaited him in the film. Of course, using claws longer than 20 cm is not an easy thing, which is why he sometimes stabbed himself and says that he still has some scars from then.
