One of the happy notes of the match against Cremonese is that Sanabria has finally returned to scoring at home, after more than a year since the last time (before Monday he hadn’t scored between friendly walls since 23 January 2022). Penalty aside, the striker was one of the most positive of the grenade squad even if, once again, he proved he’s not a top striker by missing out on a couple of good chances. That of the attacker is a problem that Torino has been pursuing for some time but which also remained unresolved in the January transfer market.
We needed a striker
Ivan Yuric in the presentation press conference of Turin-Cremonese he had declared, in no uncertain terms, that in addition to Ilic he had also asked for a striker as reinforcement. The request was not without sense: there are two strikers, Sanabria and Pellegri, but the latter has had too many physical problems this year too and Vlasic, Karamoh, Seck and so on had to adapt as central strikers. Obviously in this way you can’t make a team perform at its best and in the final match against Cremonese, this missed signing made itself felt. In fact, in the final assault, with so many crosses coming from outside, a fresh striker in the area would have been useful. In January, Torino made an attempt for Eldor Shomorudov, as well as polls for several other strikers, but no negotiations were completed. The failure to acquire another striker, with characteristics different from those of the Paraguayan, is a mistake that also made itself felt in the match against Cremonese.
