"I never knew Christmas in Cuba"

“Christmas took on meaning for me when I went to live outside of Cuba,” confessed the talented and beloved Cuban artist. Aymée Nuviola in a video uploaded a few hours ago to his Instagram profile, where he said that he had never seen the celebration on the island.

“In Cuba I didn’t have the opportunity to celebrate it but little by little I got used to it in the different countries where I lived, Costa Rica, Mexico, although each place has its particularity (…) and there I began to get a little involved with those festivities” , he added when telling how he embraced the celebration of these dates.

“Then when I met God, Christmas took on another dimension for me; I understood that it was not just celebrating and buying things, but celebrating the life of Christ, the life of Christ with us, in our lives, celebrating it as a family, giving thanks to God for all the blessings and understanding that it is not a banal celebration, it is not something to gather material things but it has a deep meaning and that is how I celebrate it today and that is what it means to me to celebrate the coming of God,” he said before going on to perform, accompanied by the piano, the song “Forever thanks.”

“This beautiful song by Lázaro Horta praising our Lord and thanking him, I give it to you with all my heart,” he said when sharing his publication on Instagram this Tuesday.

His followers reacted by praising both his words and his interpretation in the comments.

“Amen, the truth of Christmas is to celebrate Christ, nothing greater and more wonderful than his birth”; “Praise the name of Jesus and the birth of him. Thank you for such precious praise”; “Incredible, beautiful song to him, he deserves everything, amen”; “Beautiful celebration of the birth of Jesus, it is a shame that here in Cuba these festivities are not noticed. God bless Cuba”; “How great you are. How proud I am of you. What an example for everyone. Many blessings for you and Paulo Simeon”; “Fire, my beautiful you and your beautiful details, blessings,” is read among the comments.

Days before this publication on networks, Nuviola had clarified that she had converted to Christianity, not “become a Christian” and that it was not something recent either but “for more than 20 years.”

It is also not the first time that the Cuban sonera dedicates words of gratitude to God.

“I am very blessed, because the Lord has allowed me to live from what I love and enjoy, that is why I honor my God and give him glory on stage in front of everyone“I don’t hide to do it, because I live grateful for his mercy and grace,” she said at the beginning of last November.
