A child who is admitted to a hospital in Córdoba moved adults and children with a letter addressed to Santa Claus, in which he asked him to spend Christmas at home.

His name is Emiliano, he is 11 years old and his short life is marked by a battle against a disease for which no diagnosis was found, and which he faces as a true warrior who never gives up.

While many children his age have probably already written their little letter for Santa Claus, in which they asked for his favorite toy, Emiliano has a much simpler wish.

The little one has been hospitalized for two months at the Children’s Hospital of Córdoba, affected by a disease that invades his body and does not promise improvements or accurate diagnoses.

According to the first tests, he suffers from neutropenia, a disease that occurs when the number of white blood cells decreases, which affects the body’s defenses and the risk of contracting infections is enormous. However, they still fail to find out what the pathology is.

In the Christmas tree at the health center, the one where the families who spend the night of the 24th and 25th adopt it as their own, Emi was encouraged to write her wish for these Holidays: “Spend Christmas at home and with my family. And if possible, with a gift”. She did not need anything else to excite doctors, nurses, relatives of other patients and her own parents.

“Can’t get over it”
Verónica, his mother, told ElDoceTV that the drama began between 2018 and 2019, when Emiliano was first admitted to a hospital in the province of Chaco. The same thing was repeated in 2021, while the last relapse occurred on October 21 of this year, when everything got complicated.

The child spent at least two weeks in intermediate therapy and is now isolated in a common room. “He can’t recover,” lamented Veronica. On Thursday, Emiliano hoped to be able to receive a medical discharge, but those responsible for his care preferred that he wait a few more days because his state of health is not stable.

When the boy heard that he could spend Christmas in the hospital, he started crying. “If we are not sure that he is okay, I prefer the hospital,” said Verónica.

It is that for several weeks, Emiliano had a very bad time. The doctors told him that with him everything is “hour after hour”, especially because the neutropenia caused other health problems to add up.

“I don’t know what we will continue to do, the doctors do not tell us, I have no answers,” expressed Emiliano’s mother moved, who thanked the care received from the health team, family, friends and strangers.
