Successful job and personnel searches in times of a shortage of skilled workers: The professional NGO network Spinnen-Netz is expanding its range of services with a new website

The professional NGO network Spider web expands its offer for Job seekers, employers and freelancers. Especially in the non-profit sector and in times of a shortage of skilled workers, personal contacts and networks are the be-all and end-all when looking for a job, acquiring orders and recruiting suitable personnel. With the new website, the spider web now brings its more than 600 members from employees and the self-employed more closely matched with employers. The goal: Good people and good jobs should be found for effective and meaningful cooperation.

“If you want to turn your ideals into a career, you often have to be prepared for uncertainties and be flexible,” says Spider Web founder Antje Schultheis Limited funding for human resources. A large proportion of positions in the non-profit sector are filled through networks.” The doctorate in political science and consultant for professional development herself worked at various NGOs before founding Spider-Web in 2006. She knows from her own experience how important personal contact and collegial exchange is and also advises unsolicited applications: “In our internal portal, job seekers can get valuable insider information about current job advertisements, working conditions and job prospects via the network.”

The network, which has now been established nationwide, offers numerous success stories: These include, for example, the scientist who, after a stay abroad, managed to get a management position in an initiative for organic farming back in Bonn; the father of a family who went from being a project coordinator to a project manager by laterally joining a large development organization, or the entrepreneur who gets interesting jobs through the spider web.

Next to the exclusive job portal and the Freelancer pool there has been one for exchange and acquisition since January 2023 Overview of potential employers for the proactive job search. The English design of the most important pages is also new.

The CEO of VENRO and director of the OroVerde Tropical Forest Foundation has valued the professional network for many years: “I use the spider’s web because I can exchange personal information here in a trusting and informal manner – in a time when there is a shortage of skilled workers, this is irreplaceable.”

The spider web also has a lot to offer for young professionals and experienced professionals who want to change or pass on their knowledge: that mentoring program, Workshops, a successful team or the freelancer lunch enable the exchange with other members and information on topics such as further training, cooperation opportunities or current professional trends. “Networks, inspiring exchange and collegial support are of great importance,” says Schultheis, “especially in times of crisis and uncertainty.”
