“If you do that, it’s a hidden bribe and you’re going to hell.” The businessman Emil Savin says that he did not denounce Dumitru Buzatu

The businessman Emil Savin claims that he reported to the DNA only the expert in the 1.25 million lei robbery case, not the head of CJ Vaslui, Dumitru Buzatu.

In an intervention at Antenna 3 CNNEmil Savin declared that he did not denounce the president of the County Council Vaslui Dumitru Buzatu, who was caught red-handed receiving a bribe, but the expert in the file of the PSD baron.

The expert would have received from the businessman who is a witness in the file the sum of 714,000 lei to draw up an expert report on the road modernization works carried out by his company, a report that would contradict his own report previously made on the basis of a contract with County Council and which did not correspond to the reality on the ground.

Also, for the alleged amount of money, the expert would have promised the businessman that he would intervene with the decision-makers in the Vaslui County Council and that he would make them pay the invoices issued by the businessman’s company for the works executed.

• “The story left in 2021, from some works, they said, non-compliant (…) At that time, an expertise was requested, which was carried out, in the end. I asked for a counter-expertise. They didn’t want it, they said that that counter-expertise must be done by the same expert (who did the first expertise). It seemed a bit dubious to me, I told them I didn’t think it was right.
• Those from the Council (Vaslui County Council, no), Mr. director Toma and others there, said let’s do it with the same expert. I contacted the expert and asked him: ‘Is that correct, you still center, you still head?’ and he told me that it is correct, that only he can do the expertise. “You sign a contract with me and I’ll do the counter-expertise for you,” he told me.
• I contacted my lawyers and they said: It’s something sewn with white thread. If you do that, it’s a hidden bribe and you’re going to hell,” declared Savin.

Savin complained that he was on the verge of bankruptcy and that is why he went to DNA. He is not sorry for taking this decision, and Dumitru Buzatu was targeted after the interceptions made by the anti-corruption prosecutors in this case.

• “This was the denunciation I made: I didn’t denounce Buzatu, I denounced the expert, that expertise. And I went with that expertise to the gentlemen at DNA and told them that thing.
• Since then, I went into listening and this whole panarama came out. I didn’t denounce Buzatu, but the expert (…) I had no choice but to do what I did.
• I’m not sorry (…) I was on the verge of bankruptcy for about two or three years, I borrowed money to pay my taxes to the state, and my money was in the County Council’s treasury or wherever it was (…)”, said Emil Savin on Antena 3 CNN.

Dumitru Buzatu was caught in the act, Friday evening, by DNA prosecutors, while he was receiving a bribe of 1.25 million lei. After six hours of searching his home, he was taken to DNA Iași for questioning, and in the morning he was detained for 24 hours. On Saturday evening, the Vaslui Court decided on his preventive arrest for 30 days.

At the moment of receiving the bag with 1.25 million lei, Buzatu tells businessman Emil Savin: “Kiss the hand, Emil! Once again, I thank you, I was on leave”.
