Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared, last Wednesday, regarding the draft law on some fiscal budgetary measures, that the legislative initiative aims to stimulate honest work and discourage “the gates of fiscal optimization and evasion”.

Also, “the reduction of state expenses is the first, followed by the increase in collection and the fight against tax evasion. And the key elements of the project are related to the Overtaxation of luxury, vice and excessive profit and, extremely important, to ensuring fiscal equity between taxpayers”, the PSD leader added.

The Head of Government also said that a new tool to reduce fraud and tax evasion will be the E-seal, through which the traceability of the goods will be tracked and another measure will be the 70% taxation of unjustified amounts by natural persons.

The Prime Minister recalled that the minimum wage in the economy will increase from 3,000 to 3,300 lei and in construction, from 4,000 lei to 4,500 lei.

“We are additionally taxing the profits of the banks and, above all, we are coming up with a new philosophy in the case of large companies, which will pay a tax of at least 1% of the turnover”, Ciolacu also specified. The Head of the Executive gave assurances that the general VAT rate of 19% will not be increased and a reduced rate of 5% for wood, thermal energy, books, manuals and cultural events will be kept, respectively the 9% rate for food and medicines.
