If you played Mega Millions in Pennsylvania you could have won something; we tell you here

Hey if you’re a Pennsylvania player in the Mega Millions, do you want the good news or the bad news first?

The bad new?

OK. You didn’t win Tuesday night’s $1.58 billion Mega Millions drawing unless you were recently shopping in Florida. The only ticket that matched all five white balls (13, 19, 20, 32 and 33) and the yellow Mega Ball 14 was sold in the Sunshine State. The total lump sum has a value of $783.3 million.

A Publix supermarket at 630 Atlantic Boulevard, Neptune Beach, sold the winning ticket, according to the Florida Lottery.

The (sort of) good news?

Don’t throw away your August 8, 2023 Mega Millions draw tickets just yet. One of those sold in Pennsylvania could be a millionaire.

The ticket matched the five white balls (5, 10, 28, 52, and 63), but failed to match the Mega Ball. That ticket is worth $1 million.

Unfortunately for people in the Philadelphia region, the ticket was sold in western Pennsylvania, in Lawrence County, which borders Ohio.

“Zain Mini Mart, 2012 East Washington St., New Castle, earned a $5,000 sales bonus for the winning ticket,” the Pennsylvania Lottery said.

Other $1 million winners were sold in California, Texas (2X) and Virginia, Mega Millions said. Two $2 million tickets were sold in Florida and North Carolina.

Didn’t win $1 million? You could have won something.

“More than 333,300 PA Lottery Mega Millions® tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing, including more than 76,900 tickets purchased with Megaplier®,” the state lottery said. “Players need to check every ticket, every time.”

How much did the PA Lottery win from this Mega Millions run?

The Mega Millions mega jackpot, which had not been won since mid-April, sparked a lottery fever that resulted in a large amount of money being wagered.

“In Pennsylvania, this most recent Mega Millions® jackpot generated more than $108.7 million in sales, creating a win of more than $43.5 million to benefit older Pennsylvanians,” the state lottery said.

What is the jackpot for the next draw?

The next Mega Millions drawing is on Friday, August 11, 2023. The jackpot has been reset to $20 million.
