It’s been running for almost three weeks Super Mario Bros Movie almost worldwide in cinemas. One of the few exceptions was so far Japan – the homeland of Nintendo. Here fans still have to April 28th wait if you want to see the acclaimed animated work. In an interview with Nintendo Dream Web has Shigeru Miyamoto I will now reveal that there are some differences in the film version for the West and the Japanese adaptation script gives.

What has changed for Japan?

The Mario creator has not yet given any specific details. At the core, however, nothing will change in the main story. The deviations will probably be limited to a few smaller items relate – including jokes or the choice of music in certain scenes. “Since we’re creating the film in Japan and the US, we thought we should do a Japanese version too. (…) We’ve been discussing a unique Japanese script since the beginning. Even if we’re shown an English script , it would be difficult to understand the subtle nuances.” says Miyamoto in conversation.

By the weekend at the latest, there should be initial information about what Nintendo has adapted to the Super Mario Bros. film specifically for Japan. With the theatrical release, millions more will come into the box office. The animated film already has impressive $888.5 million recorded. No video game adaptation has ever done that. Also the billion milestone the film should crack soon. It probably won’t take too long.

Miyamoto overwhelmed with success

In another interview, Shigeru Miyamoto also talked about his expectations spoken before the theatrical release. He had a good feeling – but the Nintendo legend could never have imagined what the film would actually bring in. And the Super Mario Bros. film will probably not be the last cinema project. Shigeru Miyamoto still wants more stories tell!
