If you are about to carry out the visa process to travel to the United States, you must take into account the requirements and the new changes that the North American consulate has reported and that will take effect from March 2023.

The visa is the only document that will allow you to enter the United States, for various reasons. In this sense, the Embassy of Peru announced that the Consular Section will not accept DS-160 applications that are “partially” filled.

Who will not have to go to the face-to-face interview to process their visa
The State Department reported that the suspension of face-to-face interviews affects holders of temporary work and student visas, which have a “positive impact” on the “American economy.”

For this reason, they decided to facilitate the procedures for the following visas:

  • Temporary agricultural and non-agricultural workers (H-2 visas).
  • Students (F and M visas).
  • Academic exchange visitors (Academic J visas).
  • Professionals with specialized jobs (H-1B visas).
  • Trainees or special visitors in educational exchange (H-3 visas).
  • Transfer of executives or managers within the same company (L visas).
  • People with Extraordinary Ability or Achievement (O visas).
  • Athletes, entertainers and presenters (P visas).
  • Participants in international cultural exchange programs (Q visas) and qualified derivatives.

Argentines seeking to travel to the United States must, without exception, have their visa up to date. Travel for tourism, study or work, and even to take a flight that stops in a North American city, must have documentation.

To process any type of US visa, the following documents are required

  1. Current passport valid for travel to the United States. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the period of stay in the United States.
  2. Previous previous passports with the United States visa, if applicable.
  3. DS-160 confirmation page.
  4. A 5 x 5 cm color photograph taken within the previous 6 months.
  5. Foreigners residing in Argentina must present a photocopy of the DNI of both sides.

When will there be an appointment to get my visa?
Just one month before the start of 2023, the appointments to process the visa to travel to the United States are paralyzed. According to the US Embassy page, only in Lima a waiting time of 757 days is reported.
