The easiest and most convenient way to charge your electric car is at home. Therefore, with the increasing spread of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, charging stations for the garage or parking space are becoming increasingly popular.
Lidl does with the Ultimate Speed Wallbox a real price announcement and sells the model for 349 euros in its own online shop. The box convinces with a colored display and integrated cable. We look at the equipment in detail.
Top deal of the day: wall box for electric cars from Lidl
The Lidl wall box charges batteries in cars with electric or hybrid drives with up to 11 kilowatts (kW) of power using the type 2 charging plug that is common in Europe. With the charging station, charging is much faster than with a household socket, which also involves the risk of overheating.

Important information and tips
1. Wall boxes must be installed by a specialist company. This is necessary because they deliver significantly higher power than conventional sockets.
2. Wall boxes with 11 kW must be registered with the network operator. However, this is usually done by the electrician after installation.
3. Tenants need permission from the landlord or the community of owners and their own parking space. However, since December 2020 there has been a fundamental legal right to a wall box, so that good reasons must be given for a refusal.
That’s why the Lidl wall box is worth it
The features of the wallbox are convincing. It has an integrated cable, a display and fault current detection. With other charging stations you have to buy them additionally expensive. With 11 kilowatts, the model offers enough power: many e-cars charge via alternating current with a maximum of 11 kW anyway, plug-in hybrids often only with 3.6 kW.
In addition, you must first have a wall box with more power approved. With the Lidl Wallbox, a simple registration is enough, the electrician takes care of that.
Finally, of course, the price is right. With this equipment, around 350 euros is a price announcement. Comparable models with an integrated cable start at around 500 euros. The offer at Lidl is worthwhile for all owners of an electric car or plug-in hybrid. The Wallbox could be sold out quickly. However, also note the additional costs for installation, because an electrician has to take care of that.
