Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) sharply criticizes CDU leader Friedrich Merz. His statements are increasingly making waves.

Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has sharply criticized Union faction leader Friedrich Merz for his recent statements on migration policy. “After the Merkel era, the Union has its compass in the migration policy lost,” said the SPD politician to our editorial team.

“Anyone who wants to solve problems does not describe young men with a migration background as ‘pashas‘. And those who bear responsibility on a day-to-day basis do not accuse the women and children who saved their lives from Putin’s rockets of ‘social tourism’,” said Faeser. She hopes for democracy that the Union under Friedrich Merz does not “completely say goodbye to the political center,” said Faeser.

Lindner denies CDU leadership claim

CDU boss Friedrich Merz used the word “social tourism” in the context of refugees from Ukraine at the end of September and later apologized for the accusation. Most recently, in the context of the riots on New Year’s Eve, he spoke of “little Paschas” on the talk show “Markus Lanz”.

At the weekend, FDP leader and Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner had already denied the CDU’s claim to leadership for Germany. “Who blanket over social tourism and “little Paschas” speaks, he cannot justify any claim to leadership for modern Germany,” Lindner said on Saturday at the state party conference of the NRW-FDP in Bielefeld.
