– I am terrified

In Saturday’s episode of Hver gang vi metes, you got to know other sides of the dramatist Fredrik Auke (32). In the past, most people probably thought of “Freddy Kalas” as a jovial guy, who offers a lot of partying and fun.

But the flip side of the medal as one of Norway’s biggest artists has been anxiety and depression.

– I went from nothing to everything, when I broke through with the song “Jovial” overnight. It was overwhelming and I was going to live my dream, says the artist.

Called the manager drunk

But life as an artist offered challenges for the 32-year-old.

– There is a lot going on, there is a lot of “fun, fun, fun” all the time. Fun is positive, but it can also be quite harmful, he explains.

For the self-proclaimed “Boss of parties” there was often a party, or at least a few “sticks” before the concerts, and with many concerts there were eventually a number of alcohol units.

– The nerves didn’t get any less bad because you have a party at work. It wasn’t that I partied a lot, but when I worked a lot there was a lot of partying. It can destroy the feeling of a healthy and safe touring life.

In the end, the artist had to put his foot down.

– I called my manager quite drunk and said: “Now we have to stop, now that’s enough.” I can not take any more”. I had 14 concerts we had to cancel.

Auke took a long time to get back on his feet – it is only in recent years that he has gotten back on his feet.

Has found its landing point

In Every time we meet, the artist also opened up about growing up with seven brothers, among them a twin brother.

– It was safe and you have many people around you, but it can be difficult to follow up so many individuals, shares the 32-year-old.

At the same time, he assures that his upbringing has been safe and pleasant, but also chaotic.

Now Auke will soon have his own family, with his partner Jeanette, whom he met during the pandemic.

– We have been together almost every day since we met. Life is so much nicer and better now than it was.

The roommate became a safe place to land for the artist.

– I could lay down in her lap and cry – get out all the bad feelings I had locked inside. I can share everything with her. I became Fredrik again, it was very good.

– She is a fantastic support partner. I am so glad to have her in my life now!

Expecting her first child

Soon, Auke will have one more person in his life: on 11 June, he and his partner are expecting a little boy.

– I’m really looking forward to that! We run around children’s rooms during the day. We have bought a bed and children’s clothes.

According to Auke, the partner likes to take some control over baby purchases, but he has also been allowed to do the shopping himself:

– I pulled out some things in a shop, showed Jeanett and said: “I’m going to buy this one, now I’ll decide!”, says the artist with a smile.

The purchase was a small bodysuit with teddy bears on it.

– It was very nice! I could easily use it myself, laughs the father-to-be.

Wants three children

The little boy will be Auke’s first child, which feels surreal.

– I’m not a father before and have no idea what it’s all about! I can imagine how it will be, but I think it will be different than how I imagine it anyway.

The Drammenseren is looking forward to and has great expectations for the role of father, but also feels the fear:

– I’m scared shitless too, I’m terrified of this here! There is a child to raise – what do you do?! But I have heard from people around me that they think I will be a really good father. Then I will be very, very happy and a little more confident about taking on that role.

As the brother of seven brothers, there is a desire for more children, but not as big a family as he himself grew up in.

– At least I’m not going to have eight children! I think I want three children, but for now I envision two; one son and one daughter. But if you get two boys, you might want a daughter and try again. But if I get three boys, I’ll stop!
